二、阅读理解（本大题共 20 小题，共 40 分）
第一节（共 15 小题；每小题 2 分，满分 30 分）
Many facts suggest that children are overweight. I feel there are a number of
reasons for this.
Some people blame(责备) the fact that we are surrounded by shops selling unhealthy,
fatty foods. This h as turned out a whole generation(一代人) of grown-ups who don’t
often cook a meal for themselves. If there were fewer of these restaurants, then
probably children would buy less junk food.
There is another argument that blames parents for allowing their children to
become overweight. I agree with this, because good eating habits begin early in
life, long before children start to visi t fast food shops. If children are given
fried chicken and chocolate rather than healthy food, or are always allowed to choose
what they eat, they will probably choose sweet and salty foods every time, and this
will carry on throughout their lives.
There is a third reason. Children take little exercise. They do not walk to school.
When they get home, they sit in front of the television or their computers. Not only
is this an unhealthy pastime(消遣), it also gives them time to eat more unhealthy
food. What they need is to do exercise. The above are the main reasons for this problem,
and therefore we have to encourage young people to be more active, as well as steering
them away from fast food shops and bad eating habits.
21. According to the text, what kind of children may eat more unhealthy food?
A. Those who often take exercise.
B. Those who often watch television.

A. their parents often cook meals for them.
B. they are too busy to go out and play.
C. they can't choose what to eat.
D. there are too many fast food shops around.
23. The underlined word "steering" in the last sentence most probably means ____.
B. g uiding
24. According to the author, which of the following is WRONG?
A. We should encourage children to be more active.
B. Children ought to keep away from fast food shops.
C. Parents needn't cook meals for their children.
D. Parents should help their children form a good eating habit.

Paris is called the City of Light. It is also an international fashion center.
It is also a famous world center of education. Besides, the headquarters of UNESCO,
the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, is in Paris.
The Seine River(塞纳河) divides the city into two parts. Thirty-two bridges cross
this scenic river. The oldest and perhaps most well-known is the Pont Neuf, which
was built in the sixteenth century. The Sorbonne, a famous university, is located

There are many other famous places in Paris, such as the famous museum the Louvre
as well as the cathedral of Notre Dame. However, the most famous landmark in this
city must be the Eiffel Tower.
Paris is named after a group of people called the Parisii. They built a small

Breakfast simply means “break the fast’’. Your body spends at least 6 to 12
hours each night in a fasting state. In the morning your body needs energy for the
day’s work ahead.
If breakfast doesn’t appeal (吸引) to you in the morning, try eating a lighter
dinner earlier in the evening or save half of your dinner for breakfast in the
If you still aren’t hungry in the morning, start with something small like juice
or toast or have a nutritious (有营养的) mid-morning snack later when you are hungry.
So, you say you are on a diet. Some people fear that eating breakfast will make
them hungrier during the day and they will eat more. It is true that eating breakfast
is likely to make you feel hungry throughout the day. That is because your body is
working correctly. Although you may feel as if you are eating more all day long,
in reality you are probably not.
Not eating breakfast can also cause you overeat, since a fall in blood sugar often
makes you feel very hungry later. To make matters worse, since your body is in a
slow state, it will not be able to burn those extra calories very efficiently (有
效). If you feed your body healthy snacks and meals throughout the day, you are less
likely to become hungry and stuff (填饱) yourself as soon as you begin to eat.
Since breakfast is the first and most important meal of the day, choosing the
right food is important. The best breakfast foods are fruits, juice, lean meat and
grain products such as bread, rice, noodles and cereals.
31. What is the meaning of the word “fast” in the phrase “break the fast”?
B. going without food
32. If you don’t want to have breakfast in the morning, according to the writer’s

34. Not eating breakfast will_________.
A. save a lot of money.
B. do harm to your health.
C. do good to your health.
D. help you keep slim.
35. In the last paragraph the writer mainly_________.
A. persuades us to have a good breakfast
B. tell us what food isn’t suitable for breakfast
C describes when and how we should have our breakfast
D .tell us what food we should have for breakfast

Why should we protect wild animals Do you know of any endangered animals? Why are they in danger? I think there are many endangered animals in the world , such as tigers and pandas. When farmers cut down trees, tigers can no longer hide and hunt. Many tigers are killed by people who want to sell their fur for money. And there are few places where pandas can live. We are not alone in the world. We human beings could not live without all the plants and animals around us. So protecting wild animals is very important. We must take measures to keep plants from being destroyed and stop animals from being killed. If each of us can plant a tree and build a birdhouse, the world will be more beautiful. It is very easy but useful.

That matter will help you relax, and you'll be on your way to getting a good night's sleep.
